CMG patients' Co-payments stolen from skin clinic
By Jason Goldman-Hall
During the weekend of March 11, someone broke into the Camino Medical Group Dermatology clinic in Sunnyvale and stole the co-payments for 105 Camino patients.

The affected clinic is at 250 Sobrante Way.

According to spokeswoman Cynthia Greaves, the clinic's safe--which held cash, checks and credit card receipts from patients--was opened.

Greaves said Camino is trying to notify all the patients who were seen that day to give them identity theft information kits. The group is also offering to pay for credit checks or fees associated with cancelled checks for any affected patients.

It has also added alert notifications to patient electronic records to prevent any sort of identity theft or fraud in its systems.

To prevent further problems, Camino is changing its locks and security codes and extending security guard hours. The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety is investigating, and the Camino Medical Group is conducting an audit.

The Camino Medical Group can be reached at 408.739.6000.
